Clippie galloping freely through the field — a living expression of vitality, instinct, and presence.

They can’t pretend and they won’t lie.

Clippie gazes softly into the distance — attentive, grounded, and in tune with the world around him.

Why Horses?

Horses don’t just watch the world around them — they feel it.

Sometimes we can’t find the words for what we’re feeling. Sometimes we try to carry on — even when something inside us is calling out for attention.

At Listening Horse, we support people who are navigating trauma, stress, emotional overwhelm, or simply the desire to reconnect with themselves.

And we do that with the help of someone quietly powerful: the horse.

"Honest, attuned, and always present."

“They can’t pretend — and they won’t lie.”

A quiet hand resting on Clippie’s back — a moment of trust, connection, and mutual awareness between horse and human.

Horses are highly attuned to their environment — they survive by reading subtle, nonverbal cues from everything and everyone around them.

They sense what’s happening beneath the surface.

They don’t judge or perform. They simply respond — offering real-time, embodied feedback that shows us how we’re feeling, how we’re showing up, and what might need attention.

And because their feedback is honest and non-verbal, we feel it in our bodies — not just in our heads.

It’s healing that you experience, not just talk about.

How It Works ...

We guide you through a gentle, structured process that combines reflection, movement, and integration:

  • Reflective Work Spend quiet time with the horses how they respond to you — and how that makes you feel.

  • Active Work Engage with the horses through movement or simple exercises. Sometimes that includes riding — if and when it feels right

  • Integration Time - Explore what came up. What did you feel in your body? What emotions or insights surfaced? This is where meaning begins to take root.

"The horses will know — and they will respond.”

Together, this process blends talk-based, experiential, and somatic learning...

"Helping you shift from simply coping to truly connecting."

What Can Change?

You don’t need to “do” anything specific for this work to begin.Just being around horses begins the process — because they respond to who we are, not who we’re trying to be.

  • Reduced anxiety, depression and overwhelm

  • Clearer emotional boundaries and patterns

  • A deeper ability to self-regulate and reflect

  • Immediate emotional and somatic insight

  • Increased calm, confidence, and self-esteem

  • Better communication and relationship skills

When a horse mirrors how we’re feeling, we notice it. When they shift their energy in response to ours, we feel it. And that embodied awareness can open the door to:

“Real change happens when we feel it, not just talk about it.”

This work is suitable for children, young people, and adults — and the benefits often ripple far beyond the session.
