Healing Trauma Through Power of Horses

When words aren't enough, horses help you heal.

How I Work.

"When words aren’t enough, horses show us what’s really going on — and what’s possible when we feel truly seen."

I work with people who are struggling and need a steady, respectful space - one where they don't have to pretend or explain themselves. My focus is on slowing things down, supporting emotional regulation, and helping people feel less alone with what they're carrying.

I don't rush, fix, or force change. Instead, I work in a way that allows balance, healthy boundaries, and a more meaningful way of living to become possible over time. â€‹â€‹

Are you feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, wanting to move forward but unsure how?

  • You carried the weight of trauma, grief, anxiety, or emotional overwhelm.

  • You may have tried traditional talk therapy, tried coping, tried to “be okay” — but found it ineffective or difficult.

  • You don't have to explain everything to begin healing.

  • You don’t have to explain everything to begin healing.

  • Sometimes the words just aren’t there.

  • Sometimes emotions live in the body long before they reach the surface.

  • Sometimes you’ve been holding something for so long, you don’t even know what it feels like to let it go.

At Listening Horse, we offer something deeply different — a calm, embodied path to healing, guided by the presence of horses.

"A path that begins not with doing, but with being."

- Horses don’t judge. They don’t ask for explanations.-

- They simply respond to who you are, how you feel, and what you carry — even the parts you haven’t spoken out loud.-

- They notice the truth beneath the surface, and they respond in the moment — with honesty, curiosity, and presence. That response becomes a mirror. An invitation. A turning point.-

- You’re not asked to perform, to be “better,” or to figure it all out.-

You’re invited to simply arrive — as you are... and find space to breath.

Hi, I'm Erika

rika and Pheasant sharing a quiet moment — reflecting the trust, connection, and gentle presence at the heart of Listening Horse.
  • I created Listening Horse from my own lived experience of trauma and recovery — and from a lifelong relationship with horses that showed me how healing happens not just through words, but through presence.

  • I’m a trauma-informed practitioner and equine specialist, with a background in integrative counselling and decades of experience in the horse world.

  • I work gently and intuitively with each person who comes here. My approach is grounded, somatic, and tailored — always meeting you where you are.

  • No pressure. No fixing. Just space to feel, shift, and reconnect.

  • The horses and I are here to walk beside you.

Are you ready to take the next step?

  • It doesn't have to make sense to start.

  • Sometimes the first step is just arriving - just shoving up with whatever you're holding.

  • Come as you are. That's more than enough

- We’ll be here when you do. -
